The news
On September 15, 2026, Meta Platforms (META) began rolling out Meta One subscription plans globally across Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Meta AI, priced from $2.99 to $499 a month, and said it had 15 million subscriptions and trials to date.
The single-app plans cost $3.99 a month for Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus and $2.99 for WhatsApp Plus, and add features such as custom fonts, app icons, themes and more pinned chats. Two bundles target heavy users of Meta's AI tools. Core, at $7.99 a month, includes the single-app features plus more image and video generation in Meta AI and more use of Instagram's Restyle editing tool. Premium, at $19.99 a month, adds Meta's highest limits on AI media generation.
For creators and businesses, Meta listed four tiers by starting price: Essential from $14.99 a month, Advanced from $49.99, Expert from $149 and Max from $499. Essential includes a verified badge, impersonation protection, a verified channel on the WhatsApp Business app and access to Meta's business agent, which Social Media Today described as an AI chatbot for round-the-clock customer support. Advanced adds 30-day story scheduling, links in organic posts and Reels, exportable analytics, team account access and extra business broadcast credits. Meta said Expert and Max carry its highest feature access and business agent capacity.
Meta said the core experience across its apps and Meta AI will stay free, and that plans, benefits, pricing and availability may vary by region, app and account. The paid AI features use Meta's Muse models for image and video generation. Meta said Meta One will later extend to Edits, its video-editing app, and to AI glasses.
The launch completed a rollout that began earlier in the year. Meta told TechCrunch on January 26, 2026, that it would test premium subscriptions, and TechCrunch reported that the single-app Plus plans launched worldwide on May 27. Engadget reported that the Essential plan combines some benefits of Meta Verified, the paid verification service Meta started in 2023.

Why CEOs should care
For marketing leaders and agencies, several reach and workflow tools now sit in Meta's paid tiers: links in organic posts, 30-day story scheduling, exportable analytics, team access and more business agent capacity. Before upgrading, list which accounts actually need these features, ask Meta how pricing works across multiple brands and regions, and compare the cost with the scheduling and analytics tools you already pay for.
For CFOs, the lineup shows how Meta plans to charge for AI that is expensive to run. Advertising brought in $59,363 million of Meta's $60.80 billion in revenue in the second quarter of 2026, and Meta guided 2026 capital spending to $130 billion to $145 billion. As reported by TechCrunch, BNP Paribas forecasts that the subscription push will add $13.5 billion in revenue by 2028, and Truist estimates $20 billion by 2030. Expect more AI features on the major platforms to come with usage caps and paid upgrades, and budget for them per seat.
For CISOs and brand-protection teams, verification and impersonation protection are now part of a paid business tier. Check that every official brand account is verified, decide who in the company owns those subscriptions, and set rules for Meta's business agent before it answers customers: what data it can see, what it may promise, and when a person takes over.
The bigger picture
Meta's revenue is still almost entirely advertising: its Family of Apps segment reported $1,007 million in other revenue in the second quarter of 2026, against $59,363 million from ads. Meta One is an attempt to earn consumer and business revenue beyond ads from its 3.60 billion daily active people, the figure it reported for June 2026.
The 15 million figure mixes subscriptions and trials, so it does not show how many people are paying. The more useful test is whether Meta starts reporting subscription revenue separately.
